WPL currently employs 16 engineers. WPL personnel combined have over 206 years of MILSATCOM System Engineering experience. WPL personnel combined have over 152 years of operational MILSATCOM Experience.

Current Activities Include:

Advanced EHF Program (AEHF)

Systems and security engineering as a member of the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) team of AEHF as a subcontractor to Northrop Grumman (previously TRW). AEHF is the third generation of the MILSTAR system. Tasks include:

  1. Generation/maintenance/review of Interface Control Documents (ICDs), including:
    1. Payload to Spacecraft ICD
    2. Payload to Terminal ICD
    3. Mission Control Segment (MCS) to Spacecraft ICD
    4. Payload Planning Constraints Document
  2. Generation/maintenance of System Security CDRLs
  3. Payload requirements generation and verification
  4. Mapping of system security requirements to payload requirements
  5. Participation in numerous working groups.

MILSATCOM System Sustainment Office (MSSO)

Providing System Engineering / System Security Engineering Support to the MILSATCOM System Sustainment Office (MSSO) located at Peterson AFB, CO. Tasks include:

  1. COMSEC/TRANSEC “KeyMat” and Equipment Support
  2. MILSATCOM Interoperability Support
  3. System Security Architecture Engineering
  4. EHF Communications Planning Tools
  5. Wideband/Narrowband Systems Engineering Support
  6. MILSATCOM Sustainment Test Bed System Engineering Support
  7. MILSATCOM Sustainment Test and Integration Support
  8. SBIRS Program System Engineering Support

Automated Communications Management System (ACMS)

Provide systems engineering ACMS at SPAWAR Systems Center in San Diego, CA. Tasks include:

  1. Milstar and UFO/E communications service loading algorithm development, requirements specification and interpretation, consistency rule development, and ICD review
  2. Support integration of software via test case and data generation, test execution and analysis of Software Trouble Reports
  3. Chair Technical Control Board meetings to review algorithm and design papers
  4. EHF communication service planning design and architecture, including service configuration algorithms, graphical user interface (GUI) design and database schema design
  5. Develop link analysis, antenna coverage, antenna pointing, adaptive nuller analysis and other algorithms
  6. Design, code, integration and test of software for the Control SMART-T and Loader function

Past Activities Include:

  1. IRIDIUM – Software and systems engineering support in the communications satellite system level test and operational flight software areas at the Motorola facility in Chandler, AZ
  2. SBIRS – Software and systems engineering support for Spectrum Astro in Gilbert, AZ
  3. Nellis Air Combat Training System (NACTS) – System engineering support as a TRW subcontractor at the Cubic Corp. facility in San Diego, CA.
  4. MILSTAR - systems engineering, software development and systems integration and test support for both Lockheed Missiles and Space Co., Inc. and TRW, Inc.
  5. F-20 and B-2 - flight control real-time software support, systems integration and test, and flight simulation for Northrop Corporation.
  6. Alpha - development of communications interfaces and drivers as a subcontractor to TRW, Inc.
  7. Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) - radar systems on-site support at Thule, Greenland with continued support in Wayland, Massachusetts for the installation of phased array radars for TRW, Inc. and Raytheon Company.
  8. C-17A Avionics - systems engineering and system integration and test support to Delco Systems Operations and McDonnell Douglas Corporation
  9. Space Flight Operation Center (SFOC) - Cognizant Test Engineer and systems integration and test support for Logicon and OAO at Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
  10. Central Weather Processor (CWP) - systems engineering functions test plan and procedures for Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
  11. Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) - systems engineering, software development and integration for both the spacecraft and ground station. Support provided at the TRW Space park and Las Cruces, NM facilities.
  12. Inertial Upper Stage Rocket (IUS) - systems engineering changes and verification for the On-board Flight Program.
  13. Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO) - attitude control and determination subsystem development (the on-board microprocessors which point and maneuver the spacecraft).
  14. Voice Control Switching System (VCSS) - Verification and Validation engineering support for Logicon, Inc. on a Jet Propulsion Laboratory project.
  15. Cost Control and Tracking Database - development of a database to track expenses for remote construction sites for Mobil Oil Corporation.
